?
Jennifer Jabaley, author of ?Crush Control,? was born in New York and raised in New Jersey where she spent a lot of time playing flashlight tag in the neighborhood, performing plays in the basement and annoying her sister and brother. While she never said that she wanted to be a writer, her best friend insists she always had a flair for writing long winded, detailed notes, folded into triangles and passed during class. She attended James Madison University in Virginia and graduated with a chemistry degree. ?She then attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn.
?
While practicing optometry in Cartersville, Ga., Jennifer decided it was time to fulfill her dream of writing a book. It took her a year to writer her first young adult novel, ?Lipstick Apology,? which she sold to Razorbill in 2008. She was awarded the Georgia Author of the Year in 2009 for the book.?Her second book, ?Crush Control,? was released in June 2011. Jennifer continues to juggle optometry, motherhood, writing and insane amounts of laundry, she says.
?
Terra Elan McVoy is the acclaimed author of four novels for young adult readers. Her latest novel, ?Being Friends with Boys,? was published in May 2012. She has been active with books and publishing throughout her life with jobs that have included managing an independent children?s bookstore in Decatur and helping organize the writer?s programs for the nationally recognized Decatur Book Festival. In 2010, her novel ?Pure? was chosen for inclusion on the Georgia Center for the Book?s inaugural list of ?25 Books All Young Georgians Should Read.?
?
Terra was born in 1974 in Tallahassee, Florida, and received her undergraduate degree in creative writing at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C., and her MFA from Florida State University. She currently serves as assistant program director of the AJC Decatur Book Festival.
